According to information provided by RBI, bank holidays in May fall into three categories – Holidays under the Bargaining Instruments Act; Holidays under the Negotiating Instruments Act and Real-time Billing Holidays; and Closing of bank accounts.

Bank holidays in May 2022
1. May 2, 2022: Banks will remain closed on May 2 due to Ramjan-Eid (Eid-UI-Fitra) in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
2. May 3, 2022: Banks will remain closed on the occasion of Bhagvan Shree Parshuram Jayanti / Ramjan-Eid (Eid-UI-Fitra) / Basava Jayanti / Akshaya Tritiya in all parts of the country except Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
3. May 9, 2022: Banks will remain closed on Rabindranath Tagore’s Birthday in Kolkata.
4. May 16, 2022: Banks will remain closed on Purnima in Agartala, Belapur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla and Srinagar.
In addition to the dates mentioned above, banks will also be closed on May 14, 2022 and May 28, 2022 due to Mondays and Wednesdays and on 1, 8, 15, 22 and May 29 because of Sunday.
