Beto O’Rourke Calls Out Heckler Laughing Over Uvalde Shooting, ‘It May Be Funny to You, Motherfucker’

Beto O’Rourke hit back at a laughing moron Wednesday as the Texas gubernatorial candidate discussed Uvalde School Massacre.

O’Rourke was speaking to a crowd at a town hall in Mineral Wells during his 49-day tour of Texas when he began discussing recent mass shooting kills 19 children and two teachers.

“I will make sure that now, 11 weeks since we lost 19 children and their two teachers, shot to death with a weapon originally designed for use in combat, legally purchased by an 18-year-old who didn’t try to get one when he was 16 or 17 but followed the law in the books, ladies and gentlemen, that you can’t buy one, you can buy two or more if you want, AR-15, goods hundred rounds of ammunition, and took a weapon originally designed for use on the Vietnam battlefield to pierce an enemy soldier’s helmet at 500 feet and knock him down…”

Then one could hear a man laughing loudly in the background.

“Fighting kids at 5 feet… that might be funny to you, you bastard, but it’s not fun for me, OK?” O’Rourke said.

The crowd then erupted into applause, giving O’Rourke a standing ovation.

“We’re going to make sure our kids are starting the school year now, that they don’t have to worry about someone walking into their school with a weapon like this,” O’Rourke said. .

After the event, O’Rourke tweeted: “Parents in Uvalde are demanding action to tackle gun violence so no more families have to go through what they’re going through. As governor, I will work with them to deliver it.”

According to footage posted on social media, the man was among a group of protesters and supporters of Governor Greg Abbott, who were believed to have been allowed into the facility.

In a video posted to Twitter by Roza Calderón, who confirmed to The Daily Beast that she was in the crowd at the time and was sitting “right in front of the protesters”, police can be seen standing spoke to one of Abbott’s supporters, who was said to be among the laughs.

“While talking about the Uvalde massacre, every Abbott supporter laughed as loud as he could, as if it were a joke,” she said.

She told The Daily Beast that several groups supporting Abbott have emerged, including a women’s group.

“The group of men you see in the video were there to fight the crowd,” Calderón said. “They stood in the back talking loudly through the speakers of the guests. They will make horribly racist or homophobic comments and laugh to boost their score.

“I would say the whole auditorium is trying to be friendly and welcoming to the Abbotts. When Beto spoke, he reiterated that we are ALL welcome to join the discussion.

“When he talked about Uvalde shooting the men started laughing and making a ruckus. That’s when Beto made the comment. The men looked embarrassed, and one of them started shouting as if he was going to teach Beto a lesson. Event staff tried to calm him down, but they couldn’t. A police officer has been flagged to help.”

Calderón said the men “quietly left maybe 5-10 minutes after this exchange.”

O’Rourke, who is showing up in Republican strongholds, has been a strong supporter of gun control and more restrictive laws.

The footage has been widely shared online, with Fred Guttenberg, whose 14-year-old daughter Jaime was killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, praising O’Rourke: “This is how you react when someone hits you.” That laughs while discussing the filming crowd in Uvalde.”

The founder of Mothers Needs Action, Shannon Watts, urged voters to donate to the O’Rourke campaign and demanded: “Knock on the door in support of Beto. Please vote for Beto. “
