WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden’s public approval rating has dropped this week and is close to the lowest level of his presidency, just five weeks away from the midterm elections. period on November 8, a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll completed on Tuesday. Find.
The two-day national poll found that 40% of Americans approved of Biden’s job performance, down from 41% a week earlier.
The president’s dwindling popularity, which fell to a low of 36% in May and June, has helped fuel expectations that his Democrats will lose control of the US House of Representatives in November and have the whole Senate.
Taking office in January 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Biden’s term has been marked by the economic scars of the global health crisis, including soaring inflation.
The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, conducted online in English across the US, collected responses from 1,003 adults, including 448 Democrats and 383 Republicans. It has a confidence interval – a measure of accuracy – of four percentage points.
