Biden will travel to Kentucky to survey storm damage on Wednesday
The White House confirmed the trip and said in a statement that he was going to Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, to report on the storm, and to Mayfield and Dawson Springs to survey storm damage.
Biden has spoken to Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear several times since the storm and told reporters Saturday he plans to make the trip.
“I said, ‘I’ll be happy to come, but I don’t want to get in the way.’ When a President shows up, he shows up with a lot of personnel, a lot of vehicles, a lot of – we can just get in the way. And so that’s what I’m working on with the governor of Kentucky and the someone else might want me there I did – make sure we’re adding value at the time and we won’t get in the way of the rescue and recovery But I still have a plan continue,” he said.
He passed a statement about the great disaster in Kentucky during the night.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
