Bitcoin’s self-proclaimed inventor largely prevails in the trial of a cumulative $54 billion

A Miami jury settled Craig Wright on nearly all of the issues in the dispute, including half of the 1.1 million bitcoins in dispute that belonged to the family of Dave Kleiman, the former partner and specialist. computer forensics.

Craig Wright, who claims to have created Bitcoin, arrives in court in Miami last month.

While concluding that Wright was not liable for the fraud, jurors awarded $100 million in intellectual property rights to W&K Information Defense Research LLC, a joint venture between the men. Testing begins on November 1.

“This is a remarkably good result and I feel completely vindicated,” Wright said in a video message. “There are still more wars. We’re going to change everything: crypto to digital cash the way it is.”

Wright stated in 2016 that he was Nakamoto, which is a pseudonym. The claim has been disputed.

Kleiman’s family allege that he and Wright were once friends and business partners, but Wright’s theft of the bitcoins stemmed from their relationship.

In a statement, attorneys for W&K and Kleiman’s real estate said they were “extremely pleased” that the jury awarded $100 million in intellectual property rights and gave Kleimans their “fair share of the what Dave helped create.”

Dave Kleiman passed away in April 2013.

Australian-born Wright, then moved to London, in May sued software developers to secure the roughly 111,000 bitcoins now worth about $5.4 billion that he claims he owns.
