‘Boiling Point’, ‘Souvenir Part II’ Craft Winners – The Hollywood Reporter

The British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs) have announced the first batch of 2021 title winners.

Of the nine craft awards, revealed just over two weeks before the BIFA awards, Philip Barantini’s one-handed kitchen drama Boiling point and Joanna Hogg .’s Cannes Bowing Sequel Souvenirs Part II took home three awards each.

Boiling point – there are 11 nominations across the entire awards (together with Belfast) – won best cinematography for Matthew Lewis, best casting for Carolyn McLeod and best sound for James Drake, Rob Entwistle, and Kiff McManus.

Souvenirs Part II – which has a total of nine nominations – received best costume design for Grace Snell, best editing for Helle Le Fevre and best production design for Stéphane Collonge. All three were nominated at 2019 BIFAs for their work Souvenir.

Elsewhere, Rob Savage’s travel thriller Camera journey won best effects for Mike Knights, Steven Bray, Dan Martin and Leigh Cranston. The best makeup and hair design goes to Vickie Lang, Kristyan Mallett and Donald McInnes for The Electric Life of Louis Wain, Will Sharpe’s biopic about the eccentric Edwardian artist, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Best music goes to Connie Farr and Harry Escott for their work on Clio Barnard’s tender forbidden love Ali & Ava.

The winners in all remaining categories will be announced during a live ceremony on December 5 at Old Billingsgate in London.
