In Uttar Pradesh, the health department has launched a special 7-day vaccination course for pregnant women.
State health department data shows vaccination coverage in 2019-20 at 94 percent, falling to 84 percent in 2020-21. The rate continues to decline in 2021-22 (until January) to 81 percent.
‘The special program will now focus on pregnant women and children under two years of age, who have missed out on routine immunizations during the pandemic. “
Known as the Intensified Mission Indradhanush 4.0, the program aims to include more than 2,80,000 expectant mothers and 9.1 million children in the next seven days. The drive involved 1.3 lakh vaccination sessions.
The Union Health Ministry has identified 56 priority districts in the priority scheme, but Uttar Pradesh has decided to launch the scheme across all 75 districts.
