Boris and Carrie Johnson announce the birth of a daughter
The Johnsons family has announced in July that they are expecting their second child in December.
Carrie Johnson wrote at the time that she had suffered a miscarriage earlier this year. “Hope for our rainbow baby this Christmas,” she wrote, referring to a baby born after a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death.
The couple had a son, Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, who was born in April last year.
They did get married in a secret wedding at Westminster Cathedral in London in May of this year.
Leader of the opposition Labor Party Keir Starmer tweeted his congratulations to the Johnsons, and added: “Wish your family health and happiness.”
Johnson finally admitted in a September interview that he has six children, one of whom is his son with Carrie, having previously dodged the question in numerous interviews and press conferences. That makes the newborn his seventh child.
The Prime Minister revealed while speaking to NBC’s Today Show on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Johnson told NBC that giving birth at 10 Downing Street was “awesome”, but it was also “a lot of work”.
“But I absolutely love it,” he added. “I change a lot of diapers.”
Johnson’s four children stay with ex-wife Marina Wheeler and a fifth, a daughter, is the result of an extramarital affair.
