BP (NYSE:BP) expectation to double crude oil production from Thunder Horse project in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and launch its newest manufacturing platform later this year, a company executive said Monday at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, according to Reuters.
The company expects to produce ~200k boe/day by the end of 2022 from the current 100k boe/day at Thunder Horse, according to Starlee Sykes, BP Senior Manager for the Gulf of Mexico and Canada.
BP (BP) is also preparing to start its fifth operational platform this year — Argos — the hub of their $9 billion Mad Dog 2 project in the Bay Area, but Sykes declined to say what quarter production will be. begin.
“Having more oil and gas in the Gulf of Mexico improves emissions globally,” Sykes said.
Last September, BP (BP) announced the start of a phase 2 expansion of Thunder Horse South and said a total of eight wells will be drilled to increase oil and gas production to ~400K boe/d by the mid-2020s.
BP is scheduled to announce first-quarter earnings results before opening on May 3.
