Brandon Ingram: Pelicans star ejected after ‘friendly’ taunts and shouts towards former teammate Frank Jackson
In the final minutes of the Pelicans-Pistons game in Detroit at Little Caesars Arena, former All-Star Brandon Ingram was kicked off the field.
This is Ingram’s first appearance of the season and the third of his career, a regular 350-game run of the season so far. With the time remaining and the point difference, no harm was done but the call went viral.
This is the game – a block – or rather, the reaction that follows that helps Ingram hit his second technique in the game that leads to a throw.

At first glance, handing Ingram a technical foul for taunting another player is unquestionable and an easy call for officials. However, this seemed different as the call had all the players on the field seeing the funny side of things.
There was history between both players.
“I think Frank [Jackson] will have my support,” Ingram jokes after the game. “I thought he was going to tell the recommenders that we were homies. He didn’t tell them.”
For context, the Pelicans broadcast knows what’s going on.

Ingram and Jackson were Pelicans teammates during the 2019-20 season, with Jackson joining the Pistons the following season.
The duo are also linked to their pre-NBA basketball, having played at Duke. Jackson played for the Blue Devils a year after Ingram represented them.
At the last minute of this game, the Pelicans won by 111-101 with Ingram scoring a game-high 26 and helping the team go on a four-game losing streak.
