Brett Favre thinks 49 players are making big mistakes with QB Jimmy Garoppolo
The San Francisco 49ers still have Jimmy Garoppolo, but they will not play him. He will eventually be traded or possibly cut because they have decided to continue with Trey Lance. Lance enters an attack with real potential to win right now, so there’s a good chance he’ll succeed.
Not everyone thinks this is a wise move. Garoppolo took the 49ers to the Super Bowl in the 2019 season and the NFC championship game in the previous campaign. Legendary Quartet Brett Favrewho knows a thing or two about winning, believes that San Francisco is making a mistake.
Talking to 33rdTeamFavre believes their former player deserves to stay:
“My personal opinion, I would go with Jimmy Garoppolo. He’s not flashy, not flashy… And no offense to Trey Lance, but what Jimmy did was win and win, win, win. win, win again. Not flashy.”
“So it’s not a hot pick, it’s my goodness, the guy who won and put the 49ers in competition for the Super Bowl year after year and year after year deserves the right to continue. competition.”
Favre believes that Garoppolo has intangibles that cannot be easily replaced:
“There’s a huge advantage to Trey; there’s no question about that. But Jimmy G has been a proven winner. And that’s sometimes overlooked – is a guy a winner? And Jimmy Garoppolo is definitely the winner.”
In the end, the 49ers decided to go on and they certainly know Garoppolo’s record. They intend to give the reins to Lance, regardless of what Favre or anyone else says.
Will Jimmy Garoppolo be traded?
Jimmy Garoppolo’s time with the 49ers is coming to an end. He’s still on the roster, but he won’t be watching any game time unless there’s an issue with Lance.
San Francisco will soon face a decision. If Garoppolo doesn’t get the final cut, they’ll have to pay him a $24.2 million salary for the season. They would have to trade him, cut him, or pay him.
Surprisingly, there were very few injuries during the training camp. Currently, no team is too reckless in that position. If that happens, the 49ers will most likely be the first team they call up.
The New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks have been closely associated with Garoppolo over the past few months. However, they are clearly playing the long game.
It will be interesting to see where Jimmy Garoppolo ends up in the 2022 NFL season.
