Bucks County businessman makes his way to Europe to provide essential supplies to children’s hospitals in Ukraine – CBS Philly
BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) – A Bucks County businessman is donating thousands of dollars in medical equipment to children’s hospitals on the front lines of the war in Ukraine.
Alfred Hagen, owner of Hagen Construction in Bensalem, will fly to Poland on Wednesday night before leaving for Ukraine early next week.
Besides basic medical supplies, Hagen purchased an incubator for the newborn, an ultrasound machine and a CPAP machine for children.
“You’ve had pregnant women killed and their unborn babies die, and young children devastated, it really touched my heart, and I wanted to do something, ‘ Hagen said. “If we can influence a child, it will be well worth it.”
Hagen visited Ukraine hoping to invest in the country’s agrarian economy, but the pandemic ended his plans.
He feels especially close to the citizens of the country.
“It’s a place where innocent people and people who can’t take care of themselves are having their lives ruined,” Hagen said. “We enjoy so much in the United States, we need to go beyond and beyond.”
The multi-thousand-dollar infant incubator shipped from the United States, so he plans to source it in the future in Poland.
