Bun Doran will not be participating in the annual Great Ceremony; Come On Teddy on the go | Racing news

Tom George has eliminated Saturday’s Doncaster winner Bun Doran from the annual Johnny Henderson Grand Challenge Cup Handicap Race at Cheltenham.

The 11-year-old achieved his fourth career chase success when he finished the two-mile Virgin Bet with a neck.

However, trainer Slad in form will skip the Festival with gelding Shantou.

George said: “He won’t go there, but he did well.

“It’s been a good day for him. He probably won’t go to Aintree either. He’s an old boy who doesn’t owe us anything, so we’ll probably wait and see, take our time. us and see what happens to him. We don’t ‘don’t have any definite plans for him.”

George, who is no stranger to Cheltenham’s success, mentored Summerville Boy to success in the State-of-the-Art Boat Race and hybrid-Polish Galileo to victory in Ballymore’s Bicycle Race, will rely on Come instead. On Teddy for more glory at the Festival.

The eight-year-old, owned by Noel Fehily Racing Syndicates, got off to a good start on his chase debut, winning at Uttoxter in December.

Although very well organized by L’Homme Presse at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day, he has run second best ahead of Omar Maretti at Newcastle next time and will arrive at the Festival as a new horse, after two month of rest.

George said: “He was involved in both the Ultima Handicap Chase and the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Amateur Handicap Chase.

“However, I don’t know if he’ll make it into Ultima. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Come On Teddy has the best price 16-1 for Ultima and 20-1 for Kim Muir.

George added: “The plan was to run in Cheltenham. “We are very pleased with him and he is in good form.”
