Calgary Stampeders win 37-7 against Edmonton Elks in CFL pre-season action
Dedrick Mills had two encounter attacks when The Calgary Seal improved to 2-0 in Friday’s CFL pre-season with a convincing 37-7 win over Edmonton Elks.
The Elks fell to 1-1 in show action.
Calgary was on the scoresheet first, in the opening half, when a save from George Obinna finally resulted in defender Tommy Stevens’ header hitting the ball down a yard.
The Stampeders also scored on a second possession, when he was scored by Keiran Burnham from 32 yards.
Calgary added to the lead with five minutes remaining in the second half on the field of a hasty professional from the five-yard Mills, giving the Stamps a 17-0 lead in the second half.

Edmonton started the third half with an unsuccessful goal.
Mills had his second touchdown of the game shortly after, breaking for 67 yards to set up a three-yard dash into the final zone.
There was a lengthy delay midway through the third half when Edmonton midfielder Kingsley Opara was injured and needed an ambulance, bringing both teams onto the pitch to assist.

The Stampeders took a 27-1 lead with three minutes remaining in the third half when Malcom Lee intercepted a 41-yard goal from Burnham.
Calgary’s offensive continued into the fourth game when QB Chase Fourcade found Juston Christian in the bottom area for a 27-yard TD.
Burnam scored another 49 yards after a pass from Raheem Wilson.

Edmonton finally got a significant score with six minutes remaining when midfielder Kai Locksley snuck in a 2m sneak for a TD that didn’t change direction. Elks went 0-7 at home last season.
The Stampeders kick off the regular season next Thursday when they host Montreal. The Elks are in Vancouver to take on the BC Lions next Saturday.
NOTE: Elks QB Nick Arbuckle was shirtless after suffering an injury during last week’s show win over Winnipeg Blue Bombers, where he scored 10–11. … Calgary has rested many of its top players , including quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, players Reggie Begelton and Kamar Jorden, CV Sean McEwen and defenders Jameer Thurman and Cameron Judge. … It was Stand With Ukraine night in Edmonton, with $15 tickets and proceeds going to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation.
