Can Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe come out in the PSG vs Bayern Munich UCL clash?

Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi have returned to training at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) ahead of their Round of 16 match against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League. The duo were joined by Marco Verratti, who also missed the 3-1 loss to AS Monaco on Saturday.

PSG fans have been sweating for the fitness of their star players ahead of the Champions League clash. But they have some positive news to calm their nerves.

Galtier has hinted that Messi will return for the match against Bayern Munich. The PSG manager added that Mbappe will need three weeks to recover from a thigh injury.

On the other hand, Messi has muscle fatigue and has to rest at the weekend. Galtier expects him to return to training on Monday and the Argentine has reported as planned.

Speaking to the media last week, Galtier said:

“Regarding Kylian, contact has been made. We talked about not being available for three weeks. Kylian is being treated. Leo is already feeling muscle fatigue, he will resume training on Monday. He is. not sure to play for Bayern.”

PSG may not risk Kylian Mbappe against Bayern Munich

The coach of PSG is aware of the importance of the match with Bundesliga but emphasizes that player health is more important than results.

Mbappe could be sidelined for the first leg despite taking part in full training on Monday, as Galtier put it:

Verratti missed the match against AS Monaco because of the virus but returned. No updates on Achraf Hakimiwho also missed the Ligue 1 game last weekend.

PSG faced Bayern Munich in the Champions League final 2020 and were defeated 1-0. Kingsley Comanwho played for France before moving to Juventus and later settling in the German team, scored the only goal of the match.
