Canada secures place in World Cup 2022 with victory over Jamaica
Canada secured its spot at the 2022 World Cup for the first time in 36 years with a 4-0 win over Jamaica in Sunday’s qualifying match.
Entering Sunday, Canada took a three-point lead in the CONCACAF (Northern, Central American and Caribbean Football Confederation) World Cup qualifying standings. The win over Jamaica ensures that Canada will end up no worse than third when qualifying ends on Wednesday, regardless of the team’s result against Panama.
Cyle Larin started things for Canada on Sunday with a goal just over 12 minutes into the game.
