Canada World Juniors 2022 roster: Full list of players, NHL prospects announced for Team Canada
One of hockey’s top leagues, which showcases the game’s biggest stars under the age of 20, is expected to begin at the end of the month. The 2022 IIHF World Children’s Ice Hockey Championship, also known as the World Juniors, will bring together the best and brightest from 10 countries in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alta.
Edmonton served as a host last year, despite having no fans amid the coronavirus pandemic. The United States won gold, the fifth title at the event, while Canada and Finland won silver and bronze respectively.

This year’s tournament also coincides with the 2022 Winter Olympics in China, where many of the NHL’s top stars can match up with their respective countries. This is also the last time Canada will host for at least the next two years, with next year’s tournament scheduled to be held in Russia and the 2024 tournament scheduled to be held in Sweden.

Team Canada has won two of the last four World Juniors titles, in 2018 and 2020. MVP of the 2020 tournament, Alexis Lafrenière of Canada, was selected first in the 2020 NHL Tournament by Rangers.

When does the 2022 World Children’s Championship start?

This year’s World Children’s Championship begins right after Christmas, December 26, also known as Gifting Day in Canada. The tournament will run for 11 days and run through the first week of 2022. It will be held at two locations in Alberta: Rogers Place in Edmonton, home of the NHL’s Oilers and WHL’s Oil Kings, and the Peaver Mart Centrium in Red Deer, home of the WHL’s Red Deer Rebels.
