Car catches on fire after colliding during police pursuit


CLEVELAND – Two people were transported after an East Cleveland Police Department chase ended in a crash late Tuesday night, according to Cleveland police officers who responded to the scene.

At about 10:55 p.m., East Cleveland police officers responded to a home to receive a shooting call. The staff located a blue SUV that matched the resident’s description.

The blue SUV fled after an officer activated the lights and sirens on his cruiser. It continued down Shaw Avenue near East 113th Street, where it crashed into a street light.

The SUV continued down East 133rd Street, where it hit a railing and a passenger exited the vehicle.

The driver fled the scene on foot but was eventually apprehended and transported by EMS.

The driver of the car that was hit by the fleeing SUV suffered minor injuries.
