Cavalcade of American Comics (Chronicles)

In 1963 syndicates and newspapers joined forces with cartoonist and comics historian
Gordon Campbell to provide an exhibit of pages from Sunday coloration comedian dietary supplements.

From the October 13, 1963 New York Sunday Information:

The present was free as was a tabloid historical past of comics handed out to guests.

The Phantom Fan has some background on the tabloid freebie.

The exhibit would finally develop into part of The Smithsonian, which didn’t cease it from touring across the nation for a pair a long time being sponsored by native newspapers.

For instance The Fort Value Star Telegram.

In 1970 the Cavalcade of American Comics was up to date  …

and that’s the copy I’ve in a field right here someplace.

If my thoughts isn’t enjoying tips I acquired it by way of the nice graces of The Divine Marge
and the National Cartoonists Society, who had copies on the market.

So far as I do know the author of the historical past has by no means been revealed.
Kim Munson tells me that Ernie McGee did a significant rewrite for the 1970 revision.

The Internet Archive has a readable copy of the 1971 edition.

From a 1963 Spokane Spokesman-Evaluate merchandise:
