Central Okanagan Public Schools weighing whether to mandate vaccinations for staff – Okanagan
The Ministry of Schooling launched guidelines for school boards throughout B.C. to observe if they will mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for workers.
The Central Okanagan Public Faculties’ board is considering on what to do subsequent.
“It’s gone from a well being and security concern to nearly a labour relations concern,” stated Moyra Baxter, Central Okanagan Public Faculties’ board chairperson.
“As we focus on this, we now have to do loads in digicam.”
Central Okanagan Public Faculties’ directors are involved they might lose some workers members in the event that they do mandate vaccinations.
“If we do put in a mandate and individuals are not vaccinated, does that imply we’ll be actually short-staffed?” Baxter questioned.
Early suggestions from workers and neighborhood members has already reached the college board.

Minister of Schooling Jennifer Whiteside stated, “From the start of the pandemic we now have labored collectively to maintain college students safely studying in-class, to encourage all eligible British Columbians to get vaccinated and to verify faculty security plans are sturdy and supported.”
“With tips now out there, trustees could make choices round vaccination insurance policies that work greatest for his or her communities as we work collectively to proceed to assist a tradition of vaccination in our colleges.”
Wanting forward, the Central Okanagan Public Faculties’ board stated it’s weighing all of its choices, and it’s too early to say what choice it’s going to make for its workers.
