MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two alleged thieves were arrested and charged after the victim found the stolen car by tracking her airpods, which were left in the car.

Justin Lee Brun, 19, and Daniel Maloney, 20, both face two more aggravated first-degree robbery counts in connection with Tuesday night’s incident in south Minneapolis. Brun faces an additional theft charge for entering the home without consent.

The criminal complaint says police were called to the 3100 block of Chicago Avenue South shortly before 8 p.m. There, a woman said she was sitting on the passenger side of her boyfriend’s car, waiting for him to cut his hair, when the car was surrounded. about four to six people.

The woman said she saw two men on the driver’s side and the passenger side holding pistols. They told her to give the keys.

The woman’s boyfriend had important keys, the lawsuit said, so she led them a couple of houses to her boyfriend’s house. She said she could feel the gun on her head.

The documents say the boyfriend stepped out of the garage of a house and placed the order on the ground. He handed over the keys, and the two said they heard a loud “boom,” like a gunshot, as the suspects left the area of ​​the boyfriend’s car.

The woman then tracked down a pair of airpods she had left in her car, the lawsuit says. At 8:10 p.m., officers found the vehicle near 29th Avenue South and, after a brief pursuit, stopped near 26th Avenue and Cedar Avenue South.

The two ran away, but Maloney was sitting in the back seat. There was a rifle with the barrel sawed out on the passenger floor.

The complaint states that officers later found discarded clothing nearby and, with the help of a K-9 officer, was led to a home on the 2500th block of 17th Avenue. who was called out of the house – one of them was identified as Brun. The documents said the other person was a minor.

The suspects have been detained. The maximum sentence for aggravated robbery is 20 years in prison, if the suspects are convicted.
