Charles Barkley ends negotiations with LIV Golf, will return to TNT

Turns out, the Hall of Famer Charles Barkley won’t be the latest big name in sports to enter the controversial LIV Golf Series. The 1992-1993 NBA MVP told the New York Post on Friday morning that he had concluded any future contract negotiations with the Saudi Arabia-sponsored breakaway golf tournament and would stay with “Inside The NBA” by TNT.

“I want to thank Greg Norman and LIV for taking care of me,” Barkley said, by Andrew Marchand. “I wish those guys great success and nothing but the best. But, in my best interest, and in fairness to Turner – because Turner and basketball have given me everything. in life – I’d better move on and I’ll stay with Turner for the rest of my television career.”

According to Marchand, “Sir Charles” has three years and $30 million left on his TNT contract, and LIV has yet to make an offer for him. Barkley said Monday that he will not participate in the tournament if he doesn’t have an offer by Thursday.

The 59-year-old former 11-time All-Star told “The Dan Patrick Show” earlier this week that he would join LIV if offered to triple his salary. Barkley also revealed to the legendary athlete that he earns about $20 million a year from TNT and sponsorships.

Even without Barkley above the fold, it looks like the LIV Golf Series is here to stay. On Wednesday, it was announced that the tournament will expanded to 14 events in 2023 with 48 players competing to win over $400 million in prize money.
