Nine Sols is an upcoming 2D action platformer from Red Candle Games, the developer behind Great psychological horror game Detention and Thoroughness. We were Heard about the fast-paced gamebut seeing it in action makes it clear that it is different from the usual formula.
On Tuesday, Red Candle Games gave us our first look at Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice– Combat focuses on attractive deflection. Even from glimpses of enemies and bosses in the game, it’s clear that slowing down enemy attacks will be essential. The protagonist, Yi, is able to deflect enemy attacks with a handy sword to increase his Chi, which he can then unleash to create explosive effects. Finally, he has a large bow in his arsenal for any ranged threat.
Yi will need to battle nine famous sols who manifest as grand bosses of varying sizes, shapes, and personalities. Red Candle Games also says the game will be rich with lore and that players will be able to explore a unique Taopunk setting and a dark electronic soundtrack.
The project has been funded through Red Candle Games’ website. The game is slated to release in Q2 2023.
