Chicago, IL, may be called the “Wind City”, but it seems they are also known as the “dirtiest” city.
In a new Orkin report, the city ranked first for having the most rats, and New York ranked second.
Chicago won the title for the eighth year in a row.
“Rodent infestation is one of the top pest problems of fall and winter,” says Ben Hottel, an entomologist with Orkin. “Rats and rats are not only a nuisance, but they are also known to spread many dangerous diseases, including Salmonella and Hantavirus.”
Los Angeles and DC are tied for third and fourth, while Denver lands in 10th.
The rankings are based on “the number of new rodent treatments performed between September 1, 2021 and August 31, 2022.”
