China beats NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope with the Xuntian Telescope

China will launch its Xuntian Telescope to unravel cosmic mysteries while challenging the technology of NASA’s Hubble Telescope. Here’s how to do it.

NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope is set to have a major competitor, and that competitor is also from China. The Hubble Space Telescope has spent 32 years discovering new galaxies, stars, planets, comets, asteroids and more. And it’s still counting! Now, China is gearing up to explore space and unravel cosmic mysteries as it prepares to launch its flagship space telescope. It was named the China Space Station Telescope (CSST), or Xuntian which means ‘survey of the heavens’. Authorities in Beijing announced that it would compete with NASA’s Hubble Telescope, China’s Xinhua news agency reported. However, it should be known that NASA recently launched and orbited a brand new one and it is called the James Webb Space Telescope. It is much better than the Hubble Telescope and can see much farther into time and space than Hubble.

China’s flagship telescope, scheduled to launch in late 2023, aims to uncover new insights into distant galaxies, mysterious dark matter and dark energy, and evolution in the universe. the past and future of the universe. The China Survey Space Telescope (CSST), also known as the China Space Station Telescope (CSST) as well as the Xuntian Space Telescope, is a space-based optical observatory that allows Astronomers survey the sky and take general maps or photos of the sky. CSST is a bus-sized facility the length of a three-story building.

The Xuntian Telescope and the Hubble Telescope

How will China’s flagship telescope challenge NASA’s Hubble Telescope? In an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency, Liu Jifeng, deputy director of the National Astronomical Observatory of China (NAOC), explained that although the aperture of the telescope is 2 meters, it has a large field of view. looks 350 times larger than that of Hubble. In contrast, NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope consists of a 2.4-meter (94-inch) main mirror, a smaller secondary mirror, and multiple recorders that can detect visible light, ultraviolet light, and light. infrared light.

CSST features a three-mirror anastigmat design that enables it to achieve outstanding image quality over a wide field of view. It is also an unobstructed Cook-type eccentric telescope that, when sampled correctly, can achieve high accuracy in optical measurements, position and shape.

Beijing’s space agency, the China National Space Administration (CNSA), has planned to put the telescope in the same orbit as the Tiangong space station, which will be operational by the end of 2023. Xuntian will likely be the largest space observatory to monitor the universe in near-ultraviolet and visible light.
