Chris Daughtry, Announcement of wife’s release on cause of daughter’s death – The Hollywood Reporter

Chris Daughtry is sharing details about the death of his stepdaughter, Hannah Price.

In a joint statement released Thursday with wife Deanna Daughtry, the couple revealed that Price, 25, died by suicide while under the influence of drugs. The couple released the statement through a representative as a way to clear up the speculation that has swirled since Price passed by her home in Fentress County, Tennessee on November 12, they added that they are currently is speaking out following a “full law enforcement investigation” into her death.

The quote paints a tragic picture of Price’s life. According to her parents, she was battling mental illness and after losing her father to suicide, she was the victim of a crime and was shot in the face.

“From an early age, Hannah struggled with mental illness and had to go in and out of therapy and treatment centers. As Hannah got older, she struggled to find a place for herself and began to use drugs and was frequently abused in relationships,” read the statement. “Just a few months after her biological father committed suicide, Hannah was the victim of a crime and was shot in the face. We have done everything we can to support her and give her the help she needs to recover from these tragedies and get her life back on track. We recently made plans with Hannah to have her seek further treatment and be closer to her family. “

They said that on the morning of November 12, Price contacted them to express that she was fearing for her life after being allegedly abused by her boyfriend. They said they contacted the Fentress County Sheriff’s Department, asked officers to perform a welfare check, after which she was deemed fine. “They left without incident,” the statement continued. “Late that afternoon, Hannah was found hanged by her boyfriend and he called 911. Paramedics declared her dead at the scene.”

Daughtrys noted that the investigation found no evidence of foul play. When the investigation was over, they asked for privacy while grieving. “Hannah was a generous and loving person who wanted more for herself and others,” says Daughtrys. “She will forever be in the hearts and minds of those of us who love her.”

The Hollywood Reporter has contacted the Fentress County Sheriff’s Department and a representative was not available for comment at press time.
