Chris Paul Graduated from Winston-Salem State University

Congratulations to Chris Paul, as he is now a college graduate! Specifically, the NBA star earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Winston-Salem State University (WSSU).

North Carolina-based HBCU’s December 2022 graduation took place on Friday, and Chris flocked to celebrate the occasion with his graduating classmates.

Notably, the ceremony came less than a day after Chris helped lead the Phoenix Suns to a win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

It’s also worth adding that Chris talked about how excited he was to achieve this milestone in a post-match interview.

“It’s great, I’m so excited. Long time coming,” he said of the achievement.

The athlete went on to share that he is happy to be able to celebrate with his family back home.

“My brother was the first to graduate in my family, and to be able to come back home and do that with my family was something that came pretty quickly, just with games and other things.”

He added: “I’m probably excited to be spending the next 10 days with my wife and kids.”

Chris gives graduates gifts worth $2.5 thousand

To celebrate his classmates’ achievement, Chris Paul provided each of them with an account at Greenwood, a bank owned by Blacks, with $100 in it. In addition, they each receive a Greenwood Elevate membership, with a gift value per graduate of $2,500, business line report.

Chris Paul: ‘This is something I’ll never forget’

After graduation, 12th century reported that he delivered a meaningful speech at a conference.

“I, Chris Paul, am a graduate of Winston-Salem State University. Yeah, that sounds crazy, doesn’t it?”

“This is something I will never forget,” he noted.

“I am very grateful to all the teachers and everyone who has worked with me. But to do this, and be able to do this at home, to be able to walk and talk to these students today in the whole process is something I will never forget.”

His journey at WSSU begins in 2020

While he initially began his college journey at Wake Forest University in 2003, Chris left after being joined by the New Orleans Hornets (now the Pelicans) two years later. He finally started attending WSSU in 2020 and he completed his course online.

A big thank you to Chris Paul and all of his classmates at Winston-Salem State University!
