It seems like Chris Rock is continuing to use stand-up comedy as a way to address the Oscars incident with Will Smith and on his latest show he briefly talked about Will’s apology video, which was released on July.
Based on Limit line, while performing at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday night, both Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle tackled the assaults they both experienced on stage earlier this year. In his film, Chris Rock took a moment to talk about Will Smith’s situation, in which he said, “f**k your hostage video,” in response to the apology video Will posted. His YouTube and Instagram channels in July.
Like before reported, the video was Will’s first time appearing on camera since the incident. In the video, he apologized to Chris and said,
“I contacted Chris and the message back was that he was not ready to talk, and when that happens, he will be in touch. So I’ll tell you Chris, I’m sorry, my behavior is unacceptable and I’m here when you’re ready to talk. “
During a performance in Liverpool, Chris spoke about the incident that happened in March and said,
“Will has been creating the impression of a perfect person for 30 years, and he tore off his mask and showed us he was just as ugly as the rest. Whatever the consequences… I hope he doesn’t put his mask back on and let his real face breathe. I see myself in both men.”
During a show in Phoenix, AZ Chris Rock also shared that he turned down an offer to host next year’s Oscars, saying returning to the show was like going back to a crime scene. He mentions OJ Simpson’s murder case and says it’s like asking Nicole Brown Simpson to “go back to the restaurant,” which happened before her death.
