Chuck Lorre’s ‘United States of Al’ Canceled at CBS – The Hollywood Reporter

The cancellation has already begun at CBS.

Chuck Lorre’s sophomore year comedy United States of America canceled. Comedy, hailed from The Big Bang Theory alums Lorre, Dave Goetsch and Maria Ferrari hailed from Warner Bros. Television, where brilliant writer-writer Lorre worked on a master deal.

Lorre had four shows at CBS, with United States of Americacomedy sophomore year B Positive, Bob Hearts Abishola and Big Bang prequel Young Sheldon on the network scheduler. Abishola scored an early extension, Young Sheldon safe for years to come as part of a multi-season pickup and B Positive still on the bubble.

United States of Al, will air the finale this month, centered around Riley (Parker Young, Join the army), a Marine veteran struggling to adjust to civilian life in Ohio, and “Al” Awalmir (Adhir Kalyan, Rules of participation), an interpreter who served with his unit in Afghanistan and has just come to America to start a new life. The series was remade for a second season after the fall of Afghanistan.

With Madison Avenue ad-buyer prepaid presentations set for next week, CBS is expected to make an extension decision on its remaining bubble shows in the coming days. . Beyond Lorre’s B Positive, Magnum PI, Good Sam and How we roll still on the bubble. The second trilogy was both produced in-house at CBS Studios, with ownership and streaming deals set to play a large role in those decisions. Veteran Bulls was previously revealed to be ending this season.
