Citi senior banker leaves company after reports of Epstein meetings
A senior Citigroup executive has left the bank, days after it was reported that he had met disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein several times while working at JPMorgan Chase.
In response to a question from the Financial Times, Citi confirmed that Paul Barrett, head of North American private equity at Citi’s private bank, was no longer with the company.
The departure follows a report on Friday in The Wall Street Journal, confirmed by the FT, that Barrett met Epstein after his relationship with JPMorgan ended.
“Until recently, Citi was unaware of Paul Barrett’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, who had worked for our company before,” Citi said in a statement.
Barrett did not respond to a request for comment on LinkedIn. An email sent to his Citi account was bounced as undeliverable.
