A city-wide quantum communications community in Hefei, China, that has been operating for nearly three years is the most important demonstration so far of how a future quantum web would possibly work.
The community, created by Teng-Yun Chen on the College of Science and Know-how of China (USTC) and his colleagues, makes use of business fibre optics {hardware} to attach 40 computer systems at authorities buildings, banks and universities which are clustered into three subnetworks, every separated by round 15 kilometres.
