Classic-inspired Metroidvania ‘Haiku The Robot’ gets new game mode in mid-December update

Remember back in September when it seemed every game ever was released all at once? One such game that appeared on Switch during this period is Robot Haiku – a post-apocalyptic metroidvania with a lovable protagonist that looks like it jumped out of a GBA cartridge. The game is currently receiving its first free content update on December 16and things are about to get a lot more difficult.

The update will add a whole new style of play to Haiku with the introduction of ‘Corruption Mode’. Much as hollow knightYour Steel Soul Mode (just not annoying to the point of being annoying), this new challenge will have you discovering a different side of Arcadia with just one health point in your name. You get hit, you go back to your last save station (see? much friendlier than Soul of Steel).

There will be temporary health upgrades in Corrupt Mode and the addition of two new train stations across the vast maze map. Of course, this challenge won’t be available immediately as you’ll need to beat the core game before proceeding. Come on, it’s just fair.

Here’s a brief summary from the game’s developer, Mister Morris Games:

A new challenging game mode that brings a whole new experience to the plays! Explore Arcadia’s alternate timeline with plot twists – Haiku is a virus.

With the virus now flowing through your circuit board, you’re more vulnerable to having only one point of health – if you die, you’ll respawn at the last unlocked repair station.

After collecting many positive reviews about Steam and Switch alike, it’s only a matter of time before the challenge grows for this classic-inspired Metroidvania. While we cannot guarantee our success in the new mode, we are certainly up for the challenge.
