CNN to Air Bill Maher ‘Overtime’ Segments on Friday Nights
CNN announced on Monday that it will air HBO’s late night show by Bill Maher Post Overtime late segment on Friday night, starting this week.
Segments often feature extra guest discussions after HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher ends, will broadcast in time CNN tonight at 11:30 p.m. ET.
The move comes after CNN director Chis Licht Report kicks around the idea about hiring an “entertainment news” character to fill the prime time slot vacant following the firing of host Chris Cuomo in 2021. Matthew Belloni’s Puck. first report this month that the network is in talks to air segments of the HBO show, part of CNN’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery.
Licht, for his part, Talk to LA time in Monday that he doesn’t want to add a “current comedy show” to prime time — though he does say he’s still talking to comedians about the possibility of being part of the network.
While Licht has put your stamp above CNN’s program since taking power last year—including renewing the morning program— viewership continues to decline. In fact, the network recently suffered Its worst ratings week in nine years.
