Coffee may help you fight endometrial cancer


The endometrium (reproductive organ in a woman’s pelvis) is called the endometrium. The

EC is one of the challenges gynecological cancer that affected 382,069 new cases and caused 89,929 deaths globally in 2018. Some of the risk factors for EC are fat, metabolic syndrometaking tamoxifen (for breast cancer), or an estrogen-only pill (no progesterone).

However, earlier lines of evidence suggest that Drinking coffee is one of the risk factors for endometrial cancer. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the association between coffee consumption and EC risk.

Coffee and endometrial cancer

The team analyzed 24 studies (using a standard database search through July 2018) on coffee intake (12 controls and 12 cohorts) that documented the presence of 9,833 new cases of endometrial cancer in 699,234 people.

It is found that those who have Drinking the most coffee had a 29% lower relative risk of developing endometrial cancer. when compared with those who consumed the lowest amount of coffee.

Coffee prevents endometrial cancer

There have been previous studies highlighting a link between drinking coffee and a significantly reduced risk of endometrial cancer.

It is found that a Drinking a lot of caffeine helps reduce free estrogen levels (higher levels stimulate the proliferation of endometrial and cancerous cells), thereby reducing the risk of endometrial cancer.

Outside, Coffee has also been found to contain phytoestrogens and antioxidants that help reduce the risk of endometrial cancer. This study also highlights different mechanisms that describe coffee’s potency anti-cancer effect.

The study authors said: “Further studies with large sample sizes … are needed to obtain more information about the benefits of coffee drinking on endometrial cancer risk.
