The rugby season is going downhill, but that means some college football shaders are on our way. There has been a record 43 post-season games scheduled to be played, and although some have been canceled due to COVID-19 issues, the dismal season still offers plenty of excitement.
Thursday’s bowl game leaderboard includes the battle of the top 15 teams in Atlanta. The Peach Bowl won’t feature two breakout stars of college football, as Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett and Michigan State rerun Kenneth Walker III both opted out of the game. Pickett is expected to be one of the top QB picks at the 2022 NFL Draft, and Walker could also come off the board in one of the first rounds.

Thursday’s games will also serve as the lead for the College Football League Semi-Finals. Alabama and Cincinnati will play the Cotton Bowl on Friday afternoon, and Georgia and Michigan will meet at the Orange Bowl later that night.

North Carolina vs South Carolina
The national championship isn’t on the list, but it’s still one of the most anticipated flops of the season. Both North Carolina and South Carolina are 6-6 this season, and neither side wants to lose this rivalry game.
Oh, and then there’s the mayonnaise situation. North Carolina’s Mack Brown and South Carolina’s Shane Beamer are both prepared to accept a mayonnaise shower if their team wins.
Tennessee vs. Purdue
Josh Heupel had a respectable 7-5 in his first season with the Vols, and he’s trying to become the first Tennessee coach since Hall of Famer Phil Fulmer to win a game flops in year 1. Meanwhile, Purdue could hit nine wins for the first time since 2003.

No. 12 Pitt vs No. 10 Michigan State
The game can still be entertaining, but it has lost some of its appeal because Pickett and Walker decided to opt out.
The key matchup will be Pitt’s attack against the Michigan State defense. Panthers finished 5th nationally in total number of offenses, while Sparta ranks 117th in total defense. Pickett may sit out, but Pitt will still have star Jordan Addison on the field. Expect Michigan State High School to download Biletnikoff Award winners.
Wisconsin vs. Arizona State
Paul Chryst led the Badgers to their seventh straight game. He won eight or more games in all but one of the seasons he was in charge. In his fourth campaign with the Sun Devils, Herm Edwards finished the regular season 8-4. Another win would give Arizona State the most wins since it finished 10-3 in 2014.
