A comedian had his last laugh after being nearly hit by a beer can during a performance.
Ariel Elias was on stage at a comedy club in New Jersey on October 8 when a slanderer demanded to know who she voted for in the 2020 US presidential election.
“I can only tell your jokes that you voted for Biden,” the heckler said scornfully.
“Okay, I can tell for a fact that you’re still saying when no one wants to, that you voted for Trump,” Elias laughs back.
“It was chaos in the room,” Elias recalled in an interview with CTV National News on Tuesday. “Everybody’s looking at what’s going on. Nobody’s paying attention to what’s happening on stage.”
The passionate woman Elias was quickly kicked out of the venue, but shortly after, the man sitting next to her threw a beer can that nearly made Elias nearly crash before crashing into the wall.
Shoot in one viral videoElias barely missed a beat as she picked up her beer mug from the ground, smiled, and drew it to a standing ovation.
“I remember thinking, is it funny if I drink this?” Elias said. “I still have five minutes left, so just like that, how do I get my focus back on stage?”
From Chris Rock to Dave Chappelle, there have been a number of scathing attacks on comedians lately.
Elias is being praised for her grace under pressure, and has been booked for spots on late-night TV. She will not be charged.
