Commonwealth Games 2022: India’s Gold Tally Swells To 22 After Final Day Heroics In Badminton And Table Tennis

The 2022 Commonwealth Games, 11: It was a great final day for the Indian team at the Commonwealth Games. It won four gold, one silver and one bronze medals. With the heroic matches on the last day, India ranked 4th in total medals with 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze. PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen won the women’s and men’s singles titles in badminton to give India a head start. Sindhu defeated Michelle Li of Canada in the women’s singles final while Lakshya Sen defeated Tze Yong NG of Malaysia in three matches in the men’s singles badminton. The men’s badminton doubles of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankedlydy then beat Ben Lane / Sean Vendy of England to win three gold medals in badminton. In table tennis, Achanta Sharath Kamal took another gold medal from the Olympics as he won the men’s singles final defeating Britain’s Liam Pitchford. G Sathiyan won the TT men’s singles bronze medal earlier in the day. However, the men’s hockey team lost to Australia 0-7 in the final.
