Competition Committee to vote on changes to the tempo of play on Friday

Baseball games can be tough, but Major League Baseball may be about to make some changes.

According to ESPN’s Jesse RogersThe MLB Competition Committee will vote on Friday to make a number of rule changes to speed up competition.

Some of the possible changes to the vote include the introduction of the pitching meter, the removal of the swing, extending the kickstand, and cutting down on the number of times a pitcher can leave the pitching rubber. .

The yard clock, which is already in use at the minor league level, is supposed to be set for 15 seconds with the bases empty and increased to 20 seconds with the athlete running on the base. The clubs must be in the batter’s box and be “alarmed” by at least the eight-second mark of the pitcher clock.

The pitcher will be allowed two “splits” from the pitching rubber per sheet occurrence, including pick-up attempts.

To eliminate the defensive shift, all four players on the field must be on the ground in the field, with two players on the field required on each side of the second base.

Eventually, the bases will reportedly increase from 15 inches to 18 inches.

Sources told Rogers that the rule changes are expected to pass and will kick off for the 2023 season.
