Coronavirus: Kamala Harris tests negative

WASHINGTON – U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris tested negative for coronavirus on Friday after she was in close contact earlier this week with an aide who later tested positive, her office said.

Harris, who is vacationing in Los Angeles, tested negative on Wednesday after she was told the aide who had been with her throughout the day on Tuesday tested positive.

Her office said she would be tested again on Friday. Her office said a pair of tests – a rapid test and a more sensitive lab test – found no trace of the coronavirus.

Harris is fully immunized, has received a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and is regularly tested in accordance with White House COVID-19 protocols. She will be tested again on Monday.

The aide is also fully vaccinated and healthy, and tested negative earlier this week and every day of the week before, Harris’s office said.

Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, on Friday sent donuts and holiday greetings to firefighters at the Los Angeles Fire Department’s 94 Fire Station.

“You are so special and we really appreciate you and we thank you,” she told them.

Harris’s office said Emhoff also tested negative on Friday.
