Correa to Giants A-Rod to Red Sox other transactions have failed
In an effort to improve on their depleted roster in December 2018, the Memphis Grizzlies entered commercial negotiations with the Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns. A three-team deal has been agreed in which Grizz will buy Kelly Oubre from Washington. Washington sent Austin Rivers to Phoenix and Trevor Ariza was sent to Washington. Memphis has moved Wayne Selden and MarShon Brooks to the Phoenix Suns. Just one problem.
The transaction was announced and the players discovered their fate, but a major bug was found.
Apparently, Phoenix assumed they were getting Dillon Brooks, a promising young 3 and D AD carry, and not MarShon, who was seven years older. Dillon Brooks has never been traded and remains an important cog for the Grizzlies while MarShon’s NBA career currently continues in China.
The Grizzlies were distracted after the incident, losing 19 of their next 22 games. It also places them in the position of winning the lottery and picking Ja Morant. If the transaction is successful, Memphis will integrate Kelly Oubre into a lineup that includes Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, Dillon Brooks and Jaren Jackson Jr. It’s a formidable team in the first two rounds of the Western Conference championship and while they won’t be ‘unlikely to challenge Golden State’s Hamptons 5, it will also prompt Memphis to delay Marc Gasol’s trade for Toronto in deadline where he continues to anchor the defense for the eventual champions.
