COVID-19 in IIM-C: 28 Students Test Positive

The campus of the India Institute of Management-Calcutta (IIM-C) is under the radar of COVID-19 as 28 of its students have tested positive for coronavirus.

Authorities of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) are considering declaring the entire campus a no-go zone until the situation is brought under control.

‘Since its inception, the total number of Covid-19 cases reported from the state has been 20,18,763. The recovery rate was 98.93 percent. The phone number so far is 21.203. ‘

KMC mayor, Firhad Hakim, said 28 students had tested positive for Covid-19, and another 58 had been quarantined.

“We have made proposals for random tests on campus over a three-day period. If the institute authorities do not agree to cooperate on this matter, we will have no choice. other than declaring the entire campus a no-go zone until the situation is brought under control,” he told the media on Saturday.

It is known that all 28 students, who tested positive, underwent two separate tests from two separate laboratories.

Hakim said that because many students come from outside, the possibility of a faster spread of the virus remains. “The primary goal of the KMC right now is to stop the spread of the virus. If that can be controlled, then another pandemic or semi-pandemic can be contained,” he said.

According to the bulletin released by the state Department of Health on Saturday morning, 50 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported from West Bengal compared to 42 on Thursday. However, there have been no Covid-related deaths in the state in the past seven days.
