COVID-19: Middlesex-London reports 14 cases, 2 deaths on Monday

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported 14 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, as well as the deaths of a man in her 60s and a woman in her 80s.
Neither death was related to long-term care or retirement home. Based on vaccination status data of deaths within the past six weeks, one of the deaths is believed to have involved a fully immunized individual. It is not yet clear which individual it was, or the vaccination status of the other.

A total of 14,748 cases have been reported, of which 123 are active (down 4 cases), 14,373 recovered (up 16 cases) and 252 deaths.

Hospitalize
The London Medical Science Center has cared for 19 inpatients with COVID-19 as of Monday. Ten people are in the adult intensive care unit or the intensive care unit.
There are five or fewer inpatients with COVID-19 at LHSC Children’s Hospital, with five or fewer in pediatric critical care.
Five or fewer employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
St. Joseph’s Health Care London has reported three non-outbreak cases involving healthcare workers.

Outbreak
A facility-wide outbreak previously reported at the Richmond Woods retirement home, declared November 9, has been listed as more than November 21.
The epidemic is breaking out at the following schools:
- Mary Wright School, announced November 17
- Notre Dame Catholic School, proclaimed November 10

The following schools have active cases associated with them, according to MLHU:
- Kensal Park French Enrollment Public School (one case)
- Mary Wright Public School (three cases)
- Medway High School (one case)
- Notre Dame Catholic School (two cases)

MLHU says:

The health unit said at least 251 cases have been reported since the start of the school year involving primary and secondary schools, as well as child and infant care centers.
Vaccination and testing
MLHU confirmed Monday, MLHU has confirmed the booking of immunizations for children aged five to 11 years.
As of the end of November 13, 89.7% of residents 12 years of age and older had received at least one dose, while 86.7% were fully vaccinated, up from 89.5% and 86.2, respectively. %, a week before.
As of October 10, the unvaccinated accounted for 52.13% of all cases (245 out of 470) and 58.33% of all hospital admissions (seven out of 12).
Of the nine COVID-19-related deaths reported in the past six weeks, five involved the unvaccinated, one involved the partially vaccinated, and three involved fully vaccinated person.

On the medical unit’s website, people can find information about pop-up clinics, mass vaccination clinics and pharmacies; instructions for anyone immunizing outside the province or country; support means of transport for those in need; and more.
Anyone who wants to be tested for COVID-19 can find information about the locations of testing points on the medical unit’s website.
The latest COVID-19 test positive rate in the region was 1.2% for the week of November 7, up from 1.0% for the week of October 31.
Ontario
The province reported 627 cases on Monday, of which 282 involved unvaccinated people. One death has also been reported.

According to Monday’s report, 92 cases were recorded in Toronto, 53 cases in Peel Region and Simcoe Muskoka, 38 cases in the York region, 37 cases in Sudbury and 35 cases in Waterloo.
All other local public health units reported fewer than 35 cases.
Of those eligible, 86% were fully immunized.
Elgin and Oxford
The Southwest Public Health Report did not report COVID-19 cases over the weekend. On Monday, it reported:
- Total 5,165 cases (up 71 cases compared to Friday)
- 162 active cases (up by five)
- 4,907 cases resolved (up 65 cases)
- 96 deaths so far (up by one)
According to a SWPH official, the death involved a man in his 80s in Elgin County.

The most recent death reported was on November 9 and involved a woman in her 50s from Elgin County. This is the fourth death reported within two weeks.
Of the 162 active cases in the area, 91 are in Elgin County (including 34 in Aylmer, 31 in St. Thomas and 19 in Bayham) and 71 in Oxford County (including including 35 cases in Woodstock and 23 cases in Tillsonburg).
SWPH did not disclose the vaccination status of individuals but told Global News on November 9 that about 78% of active cases at the time involved people who were not fully vaccinated.

Twelve people have been hospitalized with COVID-19, with five in the ICU as of Monday.
SWPH is reporting an outbreak at Aylmer Retirement Residence involving seven resident cases and one employee case.
Information on school cases can be found on the websites of the Thames Valley School Board and the London County Catholic School Board.
The region’s testing positivity rate was 5.8% for the week of November 7, up from 5.1% for the week of October 31.
As of November 21, 84.6% of children 12 years of age and older in the region were fully immunized while 87.2% had received at least one dose.

Huron and Perth
Global News is awaiting data on Monday from Huron Perth Public Health.
On Friday, HPPH reported:
- Total 2,479 cases
- 45 active cases
- 2,365 recovery times
- 69 dead so far
The most recent death was reported on November 16, HPPH also reported a death on November 15.
Of the 45 active cases, eight have been reported in Perth East and in Stratford. The full case count by city can be found on the health unit’s dashboard.
There have been two people hospitalized with COVID-19 and no cases involving healthcare workers, as of Friday.

HPPH reported an outbreak involving an unspecified workplace, although there was no long-term care home, retirement home or hospital outbreak on Friday.
An outbreak at Milverton Public Schools in Perth East announced on October 27 and involved one staff case and 16 student cases have been resolved.
School case data can be found on the websites of the Avon-Maitland School Board and the Huron-Perth Catholic School Board websites.
The region’s testing positivity rate was 3.2% for the week of November 12, up from 2.7% for the week of October 31.
The HPPH vaccine panel shows that as of November 14, 82.7% of children 12 years of age and older were fully immunized while 85.4% received at least one dose.

Sarnia and Lambton
On Monday, Lambton Public Health (LPH) reported:
- 4,323 total cases (an increase of seven cases)
- 40 active instances (no change)
- 4,209 cases resolved (up seven cases)
- 74 deaths (unchanged)
LPH’s last reported death was on November 17, involving a person in their 80s who died in hospital. No further information provided.
Five COVID-19 patients were in the care of Bluewater Health on Monday.

LPH is reporting two active outbreaks:
- Bluewater Health Hospital, announced Nov. 18 and involved fewer than five patient cases and fewer than five staff cases.
- A workplace outbreak was declared on November 9, involving three cases.
An earlier outbreak at Brigden Public Schools, declared November 4 and involving eight cases, was listed as November 20.
A previous workplace outbreak, declared on October 31, involving four cases, was listed on November 19.
All active cases at Lambton Kent County School Board schools can be found online, as well as cases at St. Clair.

The test positivity rate for the week of November 7 was 2.2%, down from 3.8% the previous week.
Among people 12 years of age and older in the region, 81.6% were fully immunized and 84.3% had at least one dose.
People can book and reschedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments or find information about vaccines available at pharmacies through the health unit’s registration page. People can also call the vaccine service center at 226-254-8222.
Those who are short-term immunized are encouraged to sign up for Lambton Public Health’s Daily Vaccine Prophylaxis List.
