Despite a record number of potential voters, the Conservative Party’s National Council of Canada President said the party has a “good time frame” to put together a preliminary list of candidates.
Robert Batherson has noted that the party is “a few weeks behind in terms of processing” but is transitioning memberships forward.
Joyce Napier asked Batherson on CTV’s Power Play on Thursday whether September 10 for congress is stable.
“That’s right,” he said.
The Conservatives said on Thursday that they could see more than 600,000 eligible voters take part in the leadership election. The party counted more than 200,000 eligible voters in 2020.
“We have a good time frame to put out the preliminary list of leadership candidates by the end of June, no later than the beginning of July, and the final list will be announced after that,” he said.
