Cyberpunk 2077 lawsuit settlement explained | GameSpot News – GS News Update

Don’t you remember CD Projekt Red being sued? I do not blame you. Investors filed a lawsuit against this developer in 2020 – which somehow feels like yesterday and 10 years ago at the same time. Back then, investors assumed that Cyberpunk 2077’s buggy launch status was hidden from them, thus costing them money.

Now CD Projekt Red will pay $1.85 million to the plaintiffs. This amount includes “settlement administration costs, taxes, attorneys’ fees” and more for any investor who purchased CD Projekt Red stock between January 16, 2020 and January 1, 2020. December 17, 2020.

That’s a TONS of money, but on the bright side, at least now CD Projekt Red has another piece of Cyberpunk’s rudimentary premiere that they can’t ignore. Games have been back on PlayStation for a while now, next generation versions are out, lots of great updates and fixes have been released and people love Netflix cartoons; everything is fine. While the game’s multiplayer component has been dropped to focus on those fixes, Night City residents are still getting the Phantom Liberty expansion this year. This will be paid DLC, but CDPR has yet to announce pricing.

And while we’re on the topic of game prices, Kantan Games’ Dr Serkan Toto thinks the industry will see “widespread” price increases.

In an interview with GI.biz, the analyst said that fans should expect the prices of games, hardware, and subscriptions to increase as studios try to offset the increased costs. Nintendo fans can be safe, though, as Toto doesn’t believe the prices of their hardware are going up from where they are right now.
