‘Daily Show’ Mocks Marjorie Taylor Greene’s ‘Hilarious’ Jan. 6 CPAC Performance Art
On Monday night Daily programTrevor Noah used a good part of his opening monologue to focus on last weekend’s “special tribute” to the captive rioters on January 6 at CPAC in Texas which he jokingly describes as “very touching and not funny at all.”
The presenter is talking about a strange piece of performance art in which an actor in an orange jumpsuit sits in a mock cell and openly weeps to bring about the plight of the fundamentalists. trend for conservative conference attendees. Among them was Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who go to the cage to pray with him.
“Okay, wait, wait, wait,” Noah said. “Help me understand the logic here. Marjorie Taylor Greene is praying for a fake prisoner? Who is this lady? Emphasizing that “this is someone who is really part of running your country,” he added, “She has to have the hardest time at the Broadway shows. “They killed Hamilton!”
In Greene’s “defensive” words, the host said the actor had to really “commit” to the role, shedding real tears for hours. “In a way, it’s a powerful performance art,” he said. “Because isn’t that what conservatism has turned into in America? Just people in MAGA hats acting like they’re the victims? ” Noah scoffed as he said, “There are fewer whites now than there used to be…but we still have all the power…”
And as if the story couldn’t get “crazier”, Noah later revealed that the actor playing the prisoner was a actually January 6 riots who pleaded guilty and avoided detention by “running headbutting other rioters.”
“So yeah, hope you understand, this guy is posing as a prisoner he helped put in prison!” he added. “This is so wild!”
