DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas police have arrested a gymnastics coach on suspicion of repeatedly sexually abusing a young child and are asking the public to help them identify other possible victims.
On Friday, December 10, the Dallas Police Department’s Child Crime Unit, with the support of the United States Marshal Violent Crime Task Force, arrested 69-year-old Edouard Iarov, in Dallas.
Iarov was charged with repeatedly molesting a minor, a first-degree felony.
He is a gymnastics trainer and owner of Iarov Elite Gymnastics, based at the Farmers Branch.
According to the USA Gymnastics website, Iarov is on the List of Pending Suspensions and Restrictions. He is prohibited from having unsupervised contact with minors in any USA Gymnastics facilities and events.
The website’s archived image shows that Iarov was added to the list between November 11 and December 6 of this year. It’s unclear what circumstances prompted American Gymnastics to add him to the list.
USA Gymnastics was not immediately available for comment.
Police are asking anyone with knowledge of other victims that may be related to Iarov to contact Detective Dwayne Cooper at 214-275-1329 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Iarov is in the North Tower Prison in Dallas. His bond has been set at $200,000.
The investigation is underway.
