Criss describes Charles as his best friend growing up.

He described his brother’s last years of life as “increasingly difficult” and explained that “he struggled to find stability during an unfortunately difficult period in his life.”
Added, “Despite our great concerns about his state of health, and his objections that everything is fine, it’s hard to say that Chuck is clearly depressed now Heavy on him for a while, his depression was only made worse by a lifelong struggle he had had to express his feelings – a dangerous combination only surpassed by his ability to hide it was so unbelievable.
