Dating app Hinge adds more ways to connect with new polls and dedicated video reminders • TechCrunch

Targeting younger data generation, Match-owned dating app Coupling today launched two new features, “Video Prompts” and “Prompt Polls”, that allow users to respond to specific video prompts as well as publish polls with three unique responses to specific questions. potential match to choose from.

The announcement of the two new features came a year after Hinge launched.”Voice prompts,” a voice recording feature that provides users with a way to hear the voice of a potential audience. Hinge profile video prompts and polls take these online interactions one step further, giving dataers more ways to make connections.

The company claims that the dating app is the first to offer users a way to publish polls. However, we reported last month that Bumble has started experimenting with polls, also.

With the addition of “Prompt Polls”, Hinge hopes that data people can have better conversations by asking potentially relevant questions they want to know about them.

Users can choose from 21 prompts in the poll, such as “If we enter the lottery, let’s spend it”, “The dream house must include” and “Two truths and one lies,” among other prompts aimed at sparking a connection. After selecting a prompt, the user can enter three responses for everyone to choose from.

The app has added 16 new reminders designed for videos. This includes “Something Special for Me”, “Hello from Me and My Pets”, “Measure My Fit”, and “Quick Story Time”.

Users can record a 30-second video to pair with a video prompt.

The new feature is different from the existing one Video features are available in the “Photo reminder” section of Hinge users’ profiles, allowing them to upload previously recorded videos from Instagram and Facebook or their photo library. Users can also choose to record a 30-second video in the app for this part.

Like New focus on video Dating app keep popping up, Hinge is rolling out its latest feature in hopes of improving the online dating game with a more expressive and fun way to date.

“With the launch of Video Prompts, we are continuing to reduce what heuristic datasets sometimes go through, so our community feels confident about who they will meet,” said Michelle Parsons, Product Manager at Hinge, told TechCrunch.

Hinge users can go to “Edit Profile” and click “Video Reminder” or “Reminder Poll.” When a video prompt or poll is added, it will show up below the first image on the profile.

Users can add a video reminder and a poll to their profile. They can still add one voice prompt, six photos/videos, and three text prompts.

Similar to voice prompts, video prompts and reminder polls are optional and can be added to Hinge profiles as an additional way to express the user’s personality.

The updates are rolling out today to Hinge app users in global markets.
