Day in life
To follow up on my introduction to blogging, I thought it would be fun to do the post A Day in Life! I’ve never done that and it’s been requested a few times, so here we go…!
06:00
Little Bubba woke up and came to our bed for a quick nurse and cuddle.
A little bit different from my usual routine, I took a shower right away and got ready.
07:00
The whole family got in the car for a coffee date near Tom’s office. My car is at the shop indefinitely, so why not have a little fun with just one over the next few days? It’s a beautiful morning and it’s always enjoyable to see the city before it gets busy. We went to CREMA, where I haven’t been, and shared a muffin and had a relaxing chat over a cup of coffee and let Silas hold our fingers as he toddled away (SO almost walked !)
8:00 am
We said goodbye to Dada, and Silas and I returned home, where he ate a little more breakfast, Hondo finished breakfast and we played a bit and had some snuggling time before taking a nap.
09:00
Silas went to take a nap. I went down to the basement to talk to my sister on the phone and started this blog post. Hondo followed me, as usual, because the basement was his favorite place.
10:00
Silas is STILL sleeping! His naps have been short and hard lately because of his new tooth, but maybe we’ve made it through the hard times now.
10:15 am
Annnnd he wakes up! To be honest, one-fifteen was a nap for him. He wakes up in a great mood and we’re going to spend the next hour or so playing and maybe preparing lunch. I realized I hadn’t eaten anything but a few very small muffins, so I beat two eggs with some scallions and wrapped them up before I passed out – haha!
half past eleven
We ate a little lunch because Silas became grumpy and clingy. I made him a quesadilla and peaches while I warmed up some Trader Joe’s frozen dinners. Mine is It’s disgusting so I threw it away, but I was insanely hungry, so I ate some Doritos and graham crackers to get something in my system.
12:30 pm
We played a little more and let Hondo out. The outdoor area was wet from the rain last night, so it won’t be good for us to continue playing until later. So instead, we ran to Target to buy a hair dryer because part of mine broke yesterday.
12:45 pm
We made it to Target and I realized Silas was going crazy. Rarely does this happen, but I take him to the bathroom and take care of that before I shop. We worked on saying “hello” and waving, but Silas was pretty shy (and sweet) to other people, so he didn’t really succeed. Today, however, he still randomly practices waving his arms all over the aisles, and immediately blushes and tries to hug me when I notice. He is the sweetest little bug!
1:30 pm
Back at home, a neighbor is taking a dead tree and chopping it. We couldn’t miss the chance to see it, so we sat in the courtyard for a while and Silas was mesmerized. Back inside, we clean up the toys we left out.
2 p.m
Lunch time! Even with the noise of the tree cutter, he is easily exhausted with a short care. I sat down to rest because (full disclosure) my cramps were severe and I was tired and wanted a peanut butter cookie… or ten. I opened Amazon and added a few essentials to my cart and by 2:40, he was still sleeping, so I had a chance to take a nap.
3:05 pm
He slept well! And me too 🙂 Honestly I can’t remember the last time I took a nap during the day, but it felt good. We played with Hondo, spent long hours on deck, had a snack, and watched a bit of Peppa Pig as Silas began to become clingy and needy for no reason.
4:20 pm
We went to the train station and waited for Dada. While we waited, I moved Silas out of his seat to sit on my lap so he could see a train up close. The train arrives, Dada goes in our direction, and it goes off with a humming sound CHOO! Big smiles from Si!
4:45 pm
At home, Silas and Tom play while I prepare dinner. Tonight it happens to be a recipe I shared on the blog – a favorite at this house… veggie flatbread pizza!
6:00 pm
Bath time! While I shower, Tom cleans up dinner and makes something for dessert and we eat after bed.
6:30 pm
Lotion, tongs, tongs, books and nail clippers. Every night, when I pick him up after applying lotion, he wraps his arms around my neck in the sweetest embrace while humming softly. That’s the cutest thing.
7:00 pm
Silas went to bed, we finished cleaning the kitchen, fed Hondo, and sat down for a background show while we talked, worked, and hung out. And eat the chocolate peanut butter “cake”.
10:30pm
Bedtime for Mom, Dad and Hondo.
* Things I have NOT done: 2 loads of laundry, some dishes, some floors vacuumed, some stuff put away, enough hugs for my Hondo
You’ve got it, friends! Nothing very interesting or unusual. Just an ordinary day with my little family. Motherhood. Picked up the little one who clung to my legs while I was in the kitchen because he just wanted a hug. Teach him how to say hello, kiss, and nod “yes”. I wouldn’t want my days to look any different than they do now. And at 4:35 pm, when Dada walks in the door, after someone has hugged me all day, I will hug he, and it feels great. Well, and Hondo. But Hondo mostly spent the day lying down and waking up a thousand times. Thanks for coming along!
Did you like this post? Would you like to see something like this in the future? Judging everything now I’m back… blogging feels so strange!
