‘Deadpool 3’ Screenwriters Update on Working With Disney on New Movie – The Hollywood Reporter
The writer of the next Deadpool sequels are confident that the franchise will remain as unimportant as ever.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the credits in the first two seasons Deadpool movie and working Deadpool 3 to director Shawn Levy, told Den of Geek that joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe won’t change the general feeling that fans love about the previous films. The upcoming film will be the first since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, the publishing studio Deadpool (2016) and its 2018 sequel.
“It was a thrill,” Reese said of the series before Ryan Reynolds entered Marvel’s big screen. “It’s thrilling to have the band back together, having a new setting in the MCU with new characters, new villains, that sort of thing. You know, it’s never a marriage we necessarily see coming – Fox and Disney, it’s an outsider [separate] from our storytelling. But we totally find luck and gold in that situation, or we’re trying. ”
Wernick added, “Deadpool will be Deadpool,” which prompted Reese to confirm that fans need not worry about the studio trying to make the new film more family-friendly.
“They were very supportive of that,” Reese said. “Now when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross a line, maybe at some point we hear, ‘Maybe not that joke.’ But I think they’ve been extremely supportive of what we’re doing, because obviously we’ve been doing it separately from them for a long time, and I think they’ve seen the success and they’ve done it. have even greater success. So hopefully it will be a marriage made in heaven. But we definitely have their support, and it’s a great thing to feel. ”
On whether the screenwriters will start fresh or will incorporate aspects of an earlier draft written by Bob’s Burgers’ Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, Reese said, “We have the answer.” He then continued, “But we really shouldn’t have revealed any plot details.”
Reese also joked that the pair of writers, who wrote the upcoming Netflix series Spider head starring Chris Hemsworth, was imprisoned in a “secret bunker under the ocean somewhere” to work Deadpool script.
The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported earlier this year that Levy, who previously directed Reynolds in Free boy and Project Adamwill be led Deadpool 3 and Reese and Wernick will return to the franchise. Tim Miller directed the first film, while David Leitch directed Deadpool 2.
